ROSE HALL, St James — Organisers of the annual Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival will dedicate the first night of next year's staging to Jamaica's 50th independence anniversary and to the island's music.
"My event is the first major event of the year that we are celebrating 50 years of independence ... 50 years of the music. I have decided to dedicate the first night of my festival to Jamaica and to its music, its culture, its people," Walter Elmore told the Observer at yesterday's launch at the Iberostar Hotel in Rose Hall.
