Kingston Hotel Guide Cheap Kingston Hotels
Welcome to Jamaica’s largest city. Kingston is a bustling capital surrounded by natural beauty. Found at the southeast corner of the island, it is home to one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Thus, Kingston plays an important role in exporting bananas, sugar and rum. No worries, there is enough for you to enjoy them as well. Whether you stay in the downtown area or stroll through the sites located in New Kingston, this Jamaican hotspot will provide you with great memories.
Interested in experiencing the real Kingston? Make your way to its downtown as it is here that you will see locals go about their everyday lives and tourists enjoying the sites and sounds of the hustle and bustle. Although downtown Kingston continues to strive towards ensuring the locals and visitors are always kept safe, this area has gained a bit of a bad boy reputation. Take precautions and you should be just fine.
New Kingston, also known as the uptown, is an interesting collaboration of high rises, fantastic restaurants and great bars. It is also a great starting point to many of Kingston’s sites. One of its most popular ones is a museum dedicated to the legendary Bob Marley. Or, visit Devon House, a mansion belonging one of the Caribbean’s first black millionaire. You could also stroll through the beautiful Hope Botanical Gardens and Zoo. Art enthusiasts will truly enjoy the National Art Gallery and see an impressive collection of art created by Jamaican artists.
The area known as Port Royal is infamous for the pirates that kept their bounty hidden here. Although an earthquake that occurred hundreds of years ago affected much of it, it still has a hold over the treasure hunters who visit. Make your way to the museums in the area if you are interested in learning more about its volatile past. Just off the coast of Port Royal lies Lime Cay. Its beaches, crystal clear waters and abundance of tropical fish are a snorkeler’s haven. One of the many benefits of visiting here is that it continues to be uninhabited. Although the lively streets and beautiful beaches are great reasons to come, Jamaica’s Blue Mountains are absolutely stunning. They are home to Mavis Bank, which is a fantastic coffee farm.
As you sip on a Red Stripe or Appleton Rum and hear the rhythms of Bob Marley in the background, you quickly realize why Kingston has become one of the best places to visit in Jamaica.
