After completing a seven-week run at The Fairfield Theatre in Montego Bay, five-time Actor Boy Award-winning playwright and composer, David Tulloch, and the Probemaster Entertainment team is again ready to push the envelope. The Tallawah-dubbed 'theatre's golden boy' is ready to mark his place in history again with what could be called Jamaica's first erotic thriller, Risqué.
The production will be playing at the Stages Theatre in New Kingston tonight at 8 p.m.
The play, skillfully crafted by Tulloch, dares to walk on territories that are deemed taboo. How often is it that two married couples decide to switch spouses for a period of time in an attempt to save their marriage?
With seduction, nudity, profanity, action, and strong sexual content as some of the main underlying themes, Risqué promises high-quality drama with fun, laughter, and excitement mixed in.
As with previous Tulloch productions, the process of arriving to a conclusion is a largely meandering and entertaining ride. It is best described as a fast-paced, funny, nasty, and eye-opening look at adultery, lust, the complexities of family, and the arrogance of youth.
Tulloch, who likes to provoke audiences with radical ideas, does an awesome job of painting a realistic portrait of the 'swinger' relationship, as well as the consequences of people's actions.
DARK SIDE UNCOVERED
Risqué, which is rated 'R', for adults 21 and over, also takes a look at the darker side of the Jamaican culture, including issues such as scamming, deception, murder, robbery, and most definitely sex.
Tulloch, who late last year had a three-week run at The Pantry Playhouse in Kingston with his critically acclaimed sex-and-scandal dramedy Wine & Roses, is also about to premiere his new family drama, a love story on steroids, Paternal Instinct, on April 13, again at the Pantry Playhouse.
Risqué features Actor Boy Award nominee Marlon Brown, Curley Roberts, Alexia Stewart, Nasarah Kerr, Stacy Blake, and Daimion Jones.
