Indian man set alight by Australian gang
An Indian man is fighting for his life in a Melbourne hospital after being attacked and set alight by a gang.
The attack comes just days after an Indian student was stabbed to death in the same city.
Melbourne police say the latest attack is thought to be random and that there is no evidence of racial intent.
But India's government have reacted angrily to the incidents and has accused Australia of ignoring racism.
The 29-year-old Indian man who was attacked on Saturday was arriving home after attending a dinner party with his wife.
The four man gang poured fluid over him and then set fire to him. The man has 15% burns to his body.
Detective Sergeant Neil Smyth says the attack had been "an unusual event" but that it appeared to be random.
"There is no reason at this stage to consider this in any way racially motivated
"The circumstances of parking a car randomly on a side street and just some people approaching him are a bit strange and it's highly unlikely, therefore, to be a targeted attack on any individual."
