They are participants in the school's Junior Achievement Company of Entrepreneurs (JACE) Programme and have developed a homework centre to boost the CSEC performance at the school. Their project is part of the JACE Programme, which engages high school students across Jamaica in entrepreneurship and financial literacy, by teaching them to create products to market and start businesses.

"Our aim is to improve the CSEC passes at our school," explained Kimberley Jones, public relations officer of Holmtekquings. The Holmwood students started the Holmtekquings enterprise last year.
"We realised that without education there is nowhere in this world you can go," Jones said. The students, with guidance from their teachers, provide extra lessons in CSEC subjects to their fellow students, and type documents for a small fee.
Executive members of Holmtekquings said the members of the school population welcomed the project, which has been used by more than 60 students between grades seven and 10.
"The students love the programme," Jones said. She noted that participants were making good progress in their subject areas as students were learning from their peers.
Dahlia Dawson, Holmwood teacher and advisor to the students said the girls have developed good leadership skills and learned to work together as a team.
"They do most of the work themselves and now understand the business inside out," she said.
Dawson also pointed out that students received invaluable advice from their sponsors, JN Fund Managers. "The intervention helped them develop their business plan, execute their strategy and taught them how to set and meet deadlines," she said.
