12-year-old was awarded a full scholarship valued at $50,000 per year from the Custos of St Mary Jeffrey McKitty.
Henry, who heads to Ardenne High this September, also received $10,000 from Mayor of Port Maria Leevan Freeman and Ca$100 from Canadian Judy Plummer, as a shared prize with two other students,
for top performance in English Language.
The brilliant and ambitious youngster also walked away with trophies for outstanding academic achievement, best performance for male, excellence in mathematics, for which he scored 100 per cent, and a trophy for a shared top score of 96 per cent in English. He also received several certificates.
"I am really happy about it," Henry later told the Jamaica Observer North East.
His parents were equally ecstatic about his performance.
"I am extremely proud of him," said his father Lenworth Henry as he beamed with pride. "I challenged him last year to try and achieve excellent results so that he could get a scholarship, and we were keeping our fingers crossed. I am satisfied that he truly did his best by the academic results achieved."
His mother, too, was extremely proud of him.
"I am so proud of him," an excited Tanica Jones said of her only child.
Henry said his parents were not surprised by his performance because they knew what he is capable of doing.
His grandmother, Alma Henry, described him as an intelligent child.
While excited about his performance now, Henry has his eyes set on an even brighter future as he sets out on a path which he is optimistic will one day lead him to a profession in neurosurgery.
