After storming the airwaves with the catchy lyrics and uptempo rhythms featured in his debut single Cheerleader last year, it seems appropriate that Oufah Media & Productions recording artiste OMI, will be asked to judge the 2013 Jamaica Fitness Association (JAMFIT) Cheerleading Championship finals.
The competition, which is used to promote healthy living, build team spirit and creativity through a sustained year-long cheerleading programme in schools, was lauded by the young star who emphasised the need to "encourage positive competitive energy among teens in schools".
"I have been watching the competition grow from year to year, and I think the JAMFIT promoters are spot on in bringing together teams and encouraging our youths to be creative through music and dance," said the Cheerleader singer who is enthralled by the vision of the competition.
"Apart from being a fun-filled event, I think programmes like this help to keep us youngsters out of trouble and committed to a cause. It also helps to strengthen positive team-building skills which will be crucial to the next phase of our lives," he continued.
Director for JAMFIT Karelle Jones, explains that, "OMI was selected as a judge in this category based on his obvious fashion sense and his themed Cheerleader single, which made a perfect fit for this year's competition."

The fast-rising music sensation was first introduced to the world through viral YouTube videos made from his infectious Cheerleader single. The official video was eventually released in late 2012, along with videos for All Threes and Fireworks.
His latest single My Old Lady was released in May of this year as a tribute to his mother and mothers around the world.
OMI, who is currently working to perfect tracks for his debut album and undergoing daily rehearsals for his first summer tour, says he is "proud to be a part of this year's competition, especially since the JAMFIT Cheerleading All-Star teams now have their sights set on the Olympics".
When asked what he was looking forward to as a judge, he responded with a knowing smile.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the creativity in costume designs, incorporated with current fashion trends and, obviously, the natural vibe and energy among the different groups. May the best team win!"
