Ity and Fancy Cat have been approached to make a movie. The comedic duo made the revelation on Wednesday after the launch of the Ity and Fancy Cat Show's sixth season.
"We all have a movie coming out," said Fancy Cat.
Not wanting to reveal too much, Ity explained that the movie would be directed by Chris Browne.
"Yeah man, the movie will be a documentary pan wi life. Wi nuh waah gi weh too much but it aggo be directed by the same man who direc' Third World Cop and Ghett'A Life," Ity offered.
"When wi did young, wi neva know how fi captivate di audience, suh wi woulda deh pan stage and nubaddy nah pay wi nuh mind and now, wi show inna it sixth season," said Fancy Cat, as the duo recollected their genesis.
A sixth season for a comedy series does give reason for the pride evident in Fancy Cat's comments.
Other notable series, like Oliver at Large and Lime Tree Lane did not have the legs it was hoped they would.
"We feel so blessed to be where we are now," Ity added.
The movie isn't a new idea, Ity explained, going a little into the need for the right timing.
"A long time wi get approached to do the movie but we decide say we aggo try get more material before we look pan that, but the movie is in the pipeline," he said.
The duo was grateful for corporate Jamaica's support.
"We have been blessed to be supported by many corporate companies over the years. However, none has done as much as LIME. We are extremely humbled by them making us brand ambassadors."
Dwight Ross, fan of The Ity and Fancy Cat Show and winner of a spot prize at the launch for his imitation of Fancy Cat's dance moves, has elevated the duo in entertainment circles to a level higher than musicians.
"I would prefer fi watch dem than fi go Sting or Sumfest without a doubt," said Ross.
When quizzed on the reason behind their success, the duo highlighted the importance they place on education.
"Education is absolutely important. We have to read a lot an' watch news so we can use what is going on in society in our shows. We even have a show in Los Angeles coming up and we have to be reading up. People might think wi not educated, but if yuh luk pan it, famous comedians like Bill Cosby even have a PhD, and Blakka have him masters," said Ity.
"Yes, in comedy, you need to educate yuhself so yuh can have some good content," concurred Fancy Cat.
