Saint International's newest face Kai Newman, has been named, Model of the Week, by world-respected website Models.com. News came recently that the Jamaican beauty made the coveted listing on what many consider the Nasdaq of the modelling industry.
Each week, the site gets feedback from industry powerbrokers to gauge which new faces from the major agencies are getting a buzz. The Jamaican teen was the buzz around fashion town.
This is not the first time a Saint model has made the prestigious list. Last year, the agency's leading international male star, Brad Allen, made the list.
Kai (Kyisha Newman) was this year's winner of the Fashion Face Of The Caribbean, and was signed on the spot by One Management model agency. The agency was represented by international scout Lanny Zenga, who was a member of the prestigious five-member panel of judges at the competition held at The Courtleigh Hotel in March.
Kai is represented by One Model Management (New York) which represents some of the biggest names in the fashion business, including timeless icons such as Iman and modern-day supermodels such as Karolina Kurkova, Eva Herzigova and Helena Christensen. One previously represented Saint star, Nakeisha Robinson, and booked several prestigious campaigns for her including Dolce and Gabanna and Calvin Klein Fragrance.
This latest accolade has put Kai in demand, with a frenzy of calls coming in from leading agencies in London, Milan and Paris - some of whom met the charming teen, who is now in development in New York.
Kai was discovered by Saint International's CEO Deiwght Peters while she was walking to her Allman Town home from the dentist with her mother.
The eagle-eyed Peters spotted the leggy teenager from a distance.
"She had an incredible body but her smile sealed the deal. I was happy her mother was with her so I could get the contacts. We had her compete in the Fashion Face Of The Caribbean and the rest, as they say, is history," Peters relates. "From the day I discovered her, I told my staff that I found Jamaica's next big fashion star," Peters reminisces.
Kai's career is managed worldwide by Saint International.
