The sweet aroma of chicken permeated the air at Glendon Court in Old Harbour, St Catherine, recently, as those who turned up were given a chance to taste chicken back done in different ways.
The meat, which is often dubbed 'ghetto steak', took on a new dimension with many enjoying the popular staple that was in short supply until recently.
"It is a very special moment for me to be able to enjoy one of Jamaica's favourite meats, and as you can see, we are truly enjoying ourselves. In fact, there are persons around who attended occasions like this just for chicken back," the organiser, Billy Clarke, told Food.
During the visit by Food, we saw patrons enjoying the day's meat in a variety of forms - brown stewed, curried, baked and fried. There was also chicken back soup.
"I think this is really fun and I am enjoying every moment of it. Chicken back prepared properly is as tasty as any other meat. I prefer it curried, though," was Michelle Stanley's verdict.
