Restaurant Week's Stephanie Scott and Select Brand's Debra Taylor, hosted the first in a series of Copperwood Pork Paloozas last Saturday at Scott's Moroccan-themed abode in Kingston.
Pork Palooza? Simply put, it was a foodie get-together to go 'hog wild' over the other white meat. Over the next few months, Copperwood will be going into the homes of select Jamaican food fanatics, professional and amateur chefs to show how sexy pork can be.
The savoury scent of sizzling pork on the grill and smoker of Chef Gairy Bowes' welcomed guests as they got a whiff of what was to come.
The menu was Latin-based with influences from Mexico, Cuba, Argentina and Nicaragua, as guests were also treated to Sangria and a variety of vino, courtesy of Select Brands.
PERFECT STARTER
Hors d'oeuvres of pork quesadilla and bruschetta were the perfect starter to the main courses.
The crispy pig in a box with green plantains and garlic bread were an absolute favourite among guests. No less tantalising were double-cut pork chops in pineapple and plum sauce, served with grilled zucchini, baby carrots, and eggplant. And last, but certainly not least, fried pork served with a slice of lime and the popular Nicaraguan rice and bean dish - gallo pinto.
