WESTERN BUREAU:
Stylish, affordable, brand-name frames and accessories, in-house doctors, eye testing and filling eyewear prescriptions have made their way under one roof, revolutionising Courts Jamaica Limited and taking their customers on to new paths in eyewear.
After 50 years, the company, known for its affordable range of furniture, appliances and electronics, have introduced an optical arm to its offerings in western Jamaica. This is the fifth store of the household giant to carry eyewear.
On Friday, November 22, Courts customers were treated to a fashion showcase of some of the coolest brands at its new store in the Fairview Shopping Centre. All in attendance had the option to purchase their eyewear on credit - from three to 24 months.
On location was eyewear and image consultant D.J. Shaw, who has become the face of Courts Optical owing to his keen expertise in matching glasses to the unique features and lifestyle of the persons who consult him.
"As eyewear style consultant, I give customers expert advice on eyewear styles that work for their personal style," Shaw told Flair, adding that what he does he is able to do within five seconds of meeting a customer.
"I assess the shape of their faces, skin tone and then I get into their personal taste and lifestyle," he explained.
In the five months that he has been consulting at Courts Optical, he has been a hit with customers.
"The nature of your work would require me to consider the type of material the frame is made out of, as well as certain professional consideration. For example, what is appropriate for your work environment," he explained.
Courts Optical is the first eyewear company to offer its customers this flexible hire-purchase plan. This flexibility allow customers to control their spend by choosing their payment plan and paying what they can afford over a period of time, while still having the convenience and benefit of their eyewear.
Since the first Courts Optical store opened at the company's flagship store on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew last November, customers have been responding well to the brand and have been very pleased with the services and quality products they have received.
The other Courts Optical stores are located at Courts Cross Roads, Courts Portmore and Courts Oasis in Spanish Town.
The sixth Courts Optical store is slated to be opened early 2014 in May Pen.
Courts Optical carries a wide range of brand-name frames, all at affordable prices, which includes Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang, Ray Ban, Guess, Vogue, Converse, Harley Davidson and Jones New York.
