Though they may have been away from the main stage for a while, roots rock reggae band Rootz Underground is gearing up to once again take centre stage.
Under the Rockstone Records label, the six-member band is set to release a new album later this month.
Titled, Return of the Righteous Vol. 1, the album is now available on iTunes and on the band's official website, www.rootzundergorund.com.
The anticipation is riding high for the release of the band's latest effort, especially on the international scene as their last album, Gravity, was released back in 2010.
The band is slated to leave the island for Austin, Texas on Friday, where they will be performing at the 20th staging of the annual Austin Reggae Festival alongside Inner Circle, Turbulence Everton Blender, and the Yard Squad Band.
The album features productions by Dean Fraser and includes the recently released single, Kingston Town, featuring Toots & The Maytals.
The album also features earlier released tracks such as Love Line, Fret Not Thyself, and Rootz & Culture, released back in July.
The band's Releaf project, a tree-planting initiative targeting fans across the world, asks for support in planting a tree and sending a photo along with GPS coordinates or the address of where it was planted to Releaf@RootzUnderground.com.
The first person to do so for each city on their tour will get the opportunity to be the band's special guest for the show of their choice. The winners also get to take a friend along with them.
The band will also perform in California and Mexico before heading to San Diego for the Earth Day Concert at the World Beat Centre on April 27.
