GRAMMY-nominated reggae singer, Wayne Wonder, winner of the MOBO Award (2003) and three BMI Urban Awards, has added to his cache having received an Award of Excellence from the organisers of Caribfest in Barbados.
According to Wayne Wonder's manager, an invitation had been extended to the singer to perform at the function but they were given absolutely no indication that he was there to receive an award.
"I was delighted ... of course. It's always a pleasure and an honour to be recognised for your hard work. But surpassing the pleasure was surprise. The organisers didn't even hint that we were even being considered for any kind of award," Wayne stated.
Wayne Wonder and songbird, Tessanne Chin, were the recipients from Jamaica.
