RAP VETERAN Missy Elliott was moved to tears following the outpouring of love from fellow musicians and fans after her surprise performance during yesterday’s Super Bowl (Feb 1).
The 43-year-old rap icon, who joined headline act Katy Perry on stage at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, was inundated with messages of congratulations from some of the top names in the music industry including long-time collaborator, Timbaland and singer Justin Timberlake.
Performing a medley of her classics including Get Ur Freak On, Work It, and Lose Control the charismatic star’s moment in the spotlight also lit up social media.
Former Clipse star Pusha T wrote: “Tears of Joy @MissyElliott is G.O.A.T. [Greatest Of All Time] And drove more foriegns than all rappers combined... I bow I bow!!! #Queen”
While friend and collaborator Lil Kim added: “My sister @MissyElliott KILLED it along @katyperry and my bro @LennyKravitz #SuperBowlHalftimeShow #SuperBowl2015 love you Miss!!!!”
As quick as the messages of support came in, Missy retweeted them to her 2.5 million followers on the platform.

Perry and Elliott have collaborated before, on the remix to Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) that helped Perry score a record-tying fifth No. 1 single from her Teenage Dream album.
However, the hip-hop veteran has not released a solo studio album since 2005'sThe Cookbook.
