SEVERAL ARTISTS have been selected to perform in a series of Olympic torch relay concerts that will take place all across Britain in the run up to the Games.
These events will begin on May 19, which is the date that the torch relay begins. The torch relay is scheduled to start at Land’s End and finish at the Olympic Stadium on July 27.
The first gig takes place in Cardiff on May 25, then Glasgow on June 8, followed by Leeds on June 24, Birmingham on June 30 and London on July 26.
The concerts in Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham are all free.
One of the performers chosen will be Dizzee Rascal, who will be on stage at Hyde Park on July 26 along with Loick Essien, Rizzle Kicks and Wretch 32
Heaven singer Emeli Sande will be in action at both Cardiff and then two weeks later in Glasgow.
Up to 16,000 tickets are available for Cooper’s Field in Cardiff and George Square in Glasgow, with 50,000 tickets up for grabs for Temple Newsam Park in Leeds, 20,000 for Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park and 80,000 for Hyde Park in London.
