TRADITIONAL PERSPECTIVE
"What we are trying to do now is to draw on the grandparents because they bring to parenting a traditional perspective that we think is useful for our young parents to see," Troupe told The Gleaner following a recent parenting session at the organisation's offices in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
"When I was a child, there were some things we took for granted, like old grandparents stepping in and playing the role of mom or dad when they had to work in the factory," he said.
"Children nowadays don't have that kind of reality because grandparents are in their 30s, and we have now become a society where nobody wants to be called 'granny' and that is not necessarily a good thing," he declared.
