The task of selecting the cream of the crop is up to judges Queen Ifrica, Michael 'Ibo' Cooper and Kerry Lawrence.
Abe Baracatt, production manager, said the turnout of hopefuls so far has been great.
"The talent is getting better and better with every audition," he said.
So far, 16 contestants have been selected.
An elimination road show is slated for Morant Bay in St Thomas on August 17, while the grand finals will take place on December 12.
This year's grand prize winner will receive $1 million in cash, the second prize is $500,000 and the third prize is $150,000.
Now in its 34th year, the Tastee Talent Trail prides itself in being Jamaica's longest- running competition of this nature. It has unearth stars including Nadine Sutherland, Yellow Man, Beenie Man, Cobra, Mr Vegas, Diana Rutherford, TOK, Brian and Tony Gold, Voicemail, Chevaugn and Glacia Robinson.
