The Ocho Rios Indian Association celebrated India's 66th anniversary of independence recently with a reception at Passage to India Restaurant at Soni's Plaza in Ocho Rios recently. Special guest was India's High Commissioner to Jamaica, His Excellency Mr Pratap Singh. Also present were Custos of St Ann, Radcliffe Walters, and president of the St Ann Chamber of Commerce, Oral Heaven, among other specially invited guests.
In a short address, the high commissioner said India had achieved much since independence, but there was much more to be achieved. The occasion was also marked by a smart team of Indian children who sang the national anthems of both Jamaica and India and also delivered a beautiful rendition of We Shall Overcome.
The event was hosted by president of the Ocho Rios Indian Association, Bobby Chatani, and his team.
