Ocho Rios, St Ann's Bay and Falmouth got in on the action with the crew that included MC Ice Man and the LIME girls.
Ocho Rios got first taste as the LIME crew spent some time in the centre of the resort town giving away T-shirts, key rings and other goodies to adults and children alike. The action then moved to the LIME store at Island Plaza on Main Street, where customers were given free Samsung Z1205 cellular phones with each purchase of $1,500 LIME call [color:450e=blue !important][color:450e=blue !important]credit.
This giveaway followed a rush on Alcatel 296 cell phones which were offered for free with the purchase of $1,000 LIME prepaid mobile call credit, following the announcement of the new rate by LIME [color:450e=blue !important][color:450e=blue !important]CEO Garfield Sinclair.
In the end, what was supposed to be a two-day sale effectively became a seven-hour sale as customers made use of the bargain, swooping up Alcatel phones right across the island.
PURCHASING FRENZY
On Saturday, the rush continued with several persons making use of the free offer by purchasing $1,500 credit.
After Ocho Rios, the road show moved on to St Ann's Bay, and then Falmouth.
The north coast invasion was part of an islandwide campaign that culminated with a grand concert in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, featuring Busy Signal, and another show in St Thomas featuring Teflon.
LIME's new rate of $2.99 applies to calls to any number in Jamaica, the United States, and Canada, and landlines in the United Kingdom.
