Pulse's Bruce Burrowes Makes Waves In Canada
The very talented but unassuming character that is often found on local and international squash courts, can now add model to his résumé. He is now the campaign star for leading Canadian couturier Empire suits.
Pulse's Bruce Burrowes would say that he is definitely more comfortable as a sportsman than as a model. But, international model scouts and agents would suggest otherwise. In fact, Burrowes can have the best of both worlds. In fact, based on the evidence, he is well on the way to being both.
A year and a half ago, he took the leap and decided to give modelling a shot. On the advice of one of Pulse's most successful models, Kimberley Mais, he met with the team. Pulse's fashion director, Romae Gordon, took Burrowes to New York where he signed with Red models. "Bruce has a great combination of athletic ruggedness mixed with the 'handsome boy next door' look which can get both strong editorials for magazin,e as well as garner the interest of casting directors for major campaigns," said Gordon.
Having been enrolled in college at the time, Burrowes returned to Canada to complete his university studies. He has since earned a degree in international history and is now looking to dive full-time into modelling.
hitting strides
Now signed to Icon Models, Burrowes is hitting his stride, having booked a number of assignments for Canadian clients with the Toronto-based agency. His most recent gig is for Outdoor Canada, where he again suited up in vests and jackets ahead of the fall season.
Burrowes also had the good fortune of being the frontman for Racers Water, a post-Olympics Jamaican water campaign. He is perhaps one of a handful of international Jamaican models who have booked a major local advertising campaign.
At 6 feet 1 inch tall, the rising star - whose mother Melinda representedJamaica in tennis - will also represent Jamaica in another format when he suits up for the squash squad at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, later this year
