MUSIC PRODUCER and reggae pioneer Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee will be celebrating his 73th birthday and 47th anniversary in the music industry this month in London.
The birthday celebration, Grooving with the Legends - is back by popular demand after last year success and sees once again many artists come to pay homage to the only producer of early Jamaican reggae still alive at the prestigious Jazz Cafe in Camden Town, north London.
Once again the performing artists, many of whom owe a lot of their success to Lee, will grace the stage to celebrate this icon's birthday and work anniversary.
Lee, who used to live next door to fellow reggae legend, the late John holt, in Jamaica told The Voice: "I'm really looking forward to it. It was lovely last year too."
The event, which is set for November 12, is organised by Roots Rockers Promotions and Gorgon Entertaiment Group, and will include performance by Owen Gray, Barry Biggs, June Powell, Dave Barker and many more surprise special guests.
No less than 5 sound systems will be spinning discs before the live performances and after, including Fatman International, King Tubby’s Hi-Fi and Peckings Syndicate.
Last year Lee’s biography Reggae Going International was published and the documentary film on his career, I am the Gorgon was released. The documentary was first screened at the South Bank this July and was then played at the Curzon Cinema last month.
Lee first came to the UK in 1968, and split his time living in London and Jamaica. Despite turning 73 in the summer, the producer confirmed that he'll be "shaking a leg" during the party.
