Latoya Grindley, Staff ReporterTraditional Easter bun brands such as HTB, [color:bf89=blue !important][color:bf89=blue !important]Yummy and Maxfield have contributed to many childhood memories for children growing up in Jamaica.
Just like fish, which increases in consumption during the Lenten season, bun and [color:bf89=blue !important][color:bf89=blue !important]cheese are top sellers. During the season, this combination is sweeter than any other time of the year. Nicely packaged in plastic and decorative boxes, [color:bf89=blue !important][color:bf89=blue !important]supermarket shelves are stacked with these Easter treats.
Almost synonymous with the [color:bf89=blue !important][color:bf89=blue !important]celebration of Easter, bun and cheese are the highlight of the holy season for children who indulge wholeheartedly. We were all there once and have fond memories of the season.
As we relive some of those tomorrow Good Friday, Food shares these Easter memories from some of our readers.
I remember having a lot of Easter bun at home and Tastee cheese in the tin. Any time I would feel for it, I would have it. And I remember enjoying the Boysie commercial.

My cousin had an entire bun and tin of cheese. He clearly had too much and could not move for a while.

My family loved Easter bun and I was forced to have it. I was never a big fan of Easter buns because I spent the whole time picking out the fruits. I prefer the regular round buns and bulla. I am on my own now, so I don't have to be tortured.

I remember my parents buying so many Easter buns that the table looked like a supermarket shelf because they always bought for the household and then shared with their friends and family.

By the time Easter was over, I was so tired of it. Everywhere I went there was bun and cheese being offered.

If I don't have diabetes yet, I don't think I can get it again, because the sweetest buns come out during Easter and I used to 'get weh'. Morning, noon and night, I would make a sandwich. The only time I would stop was when the bun and cheese were finished. Being home with all that bun and cheese, I think, opened my appetite.

I remember the smell of the cheese when you just open the tin. The cheese is the sweetest then before it's refrigerated.
