Activities will commence with a church service at the Savanna-la-Mar United Church in Westmoreland on March 31 starting at 9:30 am.
Events will then be spread across the island during the month with agriculture shows at Montpelier in St James, and Grays Inn in St Mary on April 1 and the National 4H Achievement Day at the Denbigh Showground in May Pen on April 15 and 16.
Farmers’ Month celebrations are under the JAS theme, ‘Grow what we eat and eat what we grow’.
“This year’s celebration will bring into sharp focus to need to reduce the import bill of $1 billion per annum through increase local production and consumption of our foods, “said JAS president Norman Grant.
