Beenie Man
Paul Clarke, Gleaner WriterWestern Bureau:
The Indomitable Doctor Beenie Man will headline a string of local and established acts at the 13th staging of the Westmoreland Curry Festival.
Wisynco, through its BIGGA brand, is sponsoring this year's event, which will be held on the grounds of the Manning's School on Sunday, April 28.
Known for some of dancehall music's most dynamic lyrics, Beenie Man will close the show that will also feature the superhot Lady Spice, Tifa, Baby Tash, Ken Boothe, Lovindeer and Mr Pitter Patter himself, Ernie Smith.
Gospel will play a big part of the event, with Lawayne McLean, runner-up in last season's Digicel Stars, leading the line-up.
The festival has grown exponentially since its auspicious start in 2001, drawing well over 15,000 patrons through the gates in its last two stagings.
BIGGER AND BETTER
This year could prove bigger, according to Manning's School principal Steve Gordon.
"Curry Fest 2013 is shaping up to be even bigger than last year's, and with Wisynco on-board, we look forward to a fun-filled day," Gordon said.
