As they did 60 years ago, the couple said 'I do' to another 60 years together with a kiss.

Ceophus Agustus and Olive Agatha Whyte were honoured by the Burnt Savannah Baptist Church at the church's recent [color:0c2e=blue !important][color:0c2e=blue !important]Family Day. The couple, who were married in 1952, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 23, 2012.Although the union produced no biological [color:0c2e=blue !important][color:0c2e=blue !important]children, the couple, through the kindness of their hearts, have raised several.
Pastor Sheldon Givans congratulated the couple on their lasting union, saying that the church's idea for the celebration, which included a renewal of the marriage vows, was their way of honouring the couple who were an example to other couples in the church and those outside the church family as well.
"Deacon Whyte has worked within this church for such a long time, and it is a milestone that they are celebrating 60 years together - that is not common. So, as a church we decided to come together and to recognise them. Within our country and our communities, so many relationships are going bad, we wanted to highlight them to show persons that relationships can make it. This is not something that we see every day. So, as a church community, we really had to come together and salute them."
Deacon Whyte said that it was the grace of God that had kept them through the years."I have so much to give God thanks for, for keeping us to reach this stage. I believe he will give us 60 more years. It's a marvellous road, you know."
