Young Dickens fought his way out of poverty and discouraging beginnings. He worked as a clerk in a solicitor's office taught himself shorthand then went on to become a reporter for several newspapers and became a parliamentary correspondent. At the age of 23 he began to publish pictures of everyday life in the form of sketches, he is one of the most celebrated in british fiction. The world of Charles Dickens was of 19th century England he was a good story teller. He wrote Oliver Twist 1838 , A tale of two cities 1859 and Great expectations two years later.
