With Style Week Jamaica just wrapping and Caribbean Fashion Week about to commence, it's not difficult to understand why many describe this time as Jamaica's fashion season. Fashionistas will be heading out to these events to take inspiration from the fashions they see, while others will channel their inner fashion goddess.
This week we feature three fashion looks: (i) elegant (ii) sexy and (iii) chic.
Look 1: The elegant look is typically one with a simple silhouette found in a column with the length or illusion of length lending to the elegance. Classic or bold metallic accessories add polish and a dramatic effect.
Look 2: The seductive look often features some skin, which is best in one area only. For this look we featured a side slit to show the leg.
Look 3: The chic look is one that may either work for a young or a mature person. This look is styled with a black belt for more subtlety, but when matched with purple shoes, shows how it may be styled to be more vibrant and youthful.
Steps: black dress
1. Cut front and back pieces of fabric.
2. Cut a 1 1/2" wide strip on the bias the approximate length of the neckline and armholes.
3. Join front and back at the sides and shoulders.
4. Attach bias strip to the neckline and armhole:
a. Stitch right sides together along the armhole and neckline leaving a 1/2" seam allowance.
b. Fold the strip over the seam and sew in place. For a decorative stitch you may sew this visibly.
5. Finish edges and hem
